Electric Bike P Settings Chart: P01–P17 Explained

P settings are the numbered options in some e-bike display menus. They control functions such as screen brightness, speed units, wheel size, and pedal-assist behavior.

Use the chart below to identify a setting before changing it. P codes vary by display and firmware, so confirm your model and record the original values first.

The chart below follows Sciwil's SW900 display manuals (V6.02 and Protocol 2 V1.0). It explains what each code does, not which values suit your bike. Confirm that your display and firmware use the same definitions before making changes.

P10	Drive mode: 0 = pedal assist, 1 = throttle, 2 = both	Keep the factory setting.
P11	Pedal-assist sensitivity (1–24)	Scales differ by controller. Ask before changing.

Compatibility Notes

Do not assume that an S830, LCD-S866, or another SW900 version uses the same parameter definitions. Check the display model and the documentation supplied with your bike or conversion kit. A different menu or value range is a reason to verify compatibility, not to translate codes by guesswork.

Even SW900 manuals differ: P15 is an undervoltage setting in the V6.02 guide but is unspecified in Sciwil's Protocol 2 V1.0 guide. Your bike supplier should confirm the correct configuration.

Accessing The Settings Menu

For the SW900 versions referenced in this guide, use the following sequence. If your display behaves differently, follow the instructions for your exact model.

1. Stop the bike and turn on the display.
2. Hold the Up and Down buttons together to enter settings.
3. Press the Power button briefly to move between parameters.
4. Use Up or Down to change a value. Press Power to save it and advance.
5. Hold Up and Down together again to save and exit.

Record the original value before editing it. After saving, check one change at a time rather than adjusting several settings together.

Safety Before Changing P Settings

• Stop the bike before entering the settings menu.
• Photograph the original values and change only one setting at a time.
• Keep voltage, current, sensor, and undervoltage settings unchanged unless the bike manufacturer provides model-specific instructions.
• Follow the manufacturer's specifications and applicable riding rules when checking speed settings.
• If a change causes unexpected acceleration, repeated cutouts, or overheating, stop riding. Restore the recorded value if known, or contact support.
  

Troubleshooting With Settings

If a problem began after a settings change, compare the edited value with your saved notes first. Avoid changing several parameters while troubleshooting.

1. Problem: My bike surges when I start riding.

Solution: If the surge began after a settings change, restore the recorded value before testing again. P09 controls start permission on the referenced SW900 versions; it is not a universal adjustment for smoother acceleration. Check your model's instructions for assist response and start strength, and stop riding if the bike accelerates unexpectedly.

2. Problem: My battery range is shorter than expected.

Solution: Try a lower riding-assist level where practical. Speed, hills, tire pressure, cargo, and battery condition can also affect range. Review those factors before changing advanced settings; there is no single current-limit value that suits every bike.

3. Problem: My speedometer reading looks wrong.

Solution: Check whether the display is showing mph or km/h. Then compare the wheel-diameter setting with the value specified for your bike. If the reading is still incorrect, ask the manufacturer to verify the speed-signal configuration. Do not guess a P07 value or alter wheel size to change the apparent speed.

4. Problem: My bike feels slow at the highest assist level.

Solution: Check the speed-limit setting and its input unit against your manual. On the SW900 versions referenced here, P08 uses km/h even when the riding screen shows mph. A higher limit does not guarantee more speed. If the setting is correct, ask the manufacturer whether controller restrictions or another issue explains the behavior.

4. Q: Why doesn't my ebike have all the P-settings mentioned in this guide?
A: The available menu depends on the display firmware and the controller configuration. A parameter shown in a general reference may be hidden, unsupported, or assigned differently on your bike. Missing codes are a reason to check compatibility, not a reason to copy values from another display.
