How Do You Check an Ebike Brake Sensor After Handlebar Adjustment?

Adjusting your handlebars? Don't forget the cables. Test without riding

  • Secure the bike on a properly rated stand so the powered wheel cannot touch the floor.
  • Keep hands, clothing, cables, and tools away from the tire, spokes, chain, rotor, and drivetrain.
  • Follow the model manual to activate the system at the lowest practical approved setting.
  • Apply the specified brake lever and verify the motor drive stops according to the manual.
  • Release the control commanding motor power before releasing the brake lever.
  • Switch the system off when the check is complete.

Never make the first check while riding. Never ride with a sensor unplugged, bypassed, damaged, or behaving inconsistently.

  • Motor assistance remains unavailable after both levers return fully.
